Tier 3 is where applied executive function practice becomes specialist-level professional competency.
Advanced EF practice requires more than knowing what to do. It requires knowing why, when,
and how to adjust.
By the time professionals reach Tier 3, they may understand the SEFF framework and feel more confident identifying executive function patterns, prioritizing needs, and building intervention plans.
But advanced practice asks for more.
It asks you to apply that reasoning with your own students or clients.
To interpret complex patterns across real settings and real demands.
To explain evaluation findings clearly.
To connect executive function needs to learning, communication, behavior, independence, and academic performance.
To build and refine a Cognitive Ladder.
To develop treatment plans that are specific, realistic, and responsive.
To observe initial sessions and adjust based on what is actually happening.
To identify barriers that interfere with progress.
To strengthen independence rather than simply support task completion.
To answer questions about your reasoning with depth and flexibility.
That is where Tier 3 lives.
Tier 3 helps professionals move from supported application into advanced practicum-based mastery.
Tier 3 is the bridge between applied practice and specialist-level competency.
A 12-week advanced practicum experience with mentorship, case consultation, graduate credit, and competency demonstration.
Tier 3 Completion Includes:

Tier 3 gives participants repeated opportunities to apply, refine, and demonstrate advanced EF reasoning.
Practicum-based application
Tier 3 centers on your own student or client case. Participants apply the SEFF framework in an authentic educational or therapeutic context while developing documentation, treatment planning, case reasoning, implementation reflections, and a final case study.
Mentorship and consultation
Participants receive seven 1:1 consultation meetings with a Seeds of Learning therapist and three group clinical consultation meetings with Tera Sumpter. These meetings are designed to support case reasoning, treatment refinement, problem-solving, reflection, and professional growth.
Note: Tier 3 provides mentorship and consultation. It is not direct supervision of services.
Completion reflects demonstrated competency
Tier 3 concludes with an advanced final demonstration. Participants present their practicum case, explain evaluation findings, connect those findings to executive function needs, develop and explain a Cognitive Ladder, present an intervention plan, discuss initial session observations, reflect on adjustments, and respond to questions about future therapy or intervention planning.
Graduate credit, credential, and directory qualification
Graduate credit through Ashland University is included. Participants who successfully complete all Tier 3 requirements earn the SEFF-CE credential and qualify for inclusion in the Seeds of Learning® Specialist Directory.
How to know if tier 3 is right for you!
Tier 3 is for professionals who are ready to apply the SEFF framework at a deeper level with their own student or client caseload. This advanced practicum experience is designed for participants who are prepared to analyze complex EF patterns, make nuanced intervention decisions, reflect on implementation, adjust support, strengthen independence, and demonstrate competency through case-based application.
As the advanced practicum and recognition level of the Executive Function Specialization Pathway, Tier 3 is application-based to ensure participants are ready for the responsibility of specialist-level executive function practice.

Develop and adjust an individualized treatment plan
Observe implementation and identify barriers
Strengthen student/client independence
Develop a final case study

A self-paced course
Quick strategies or pre-made activities
Introductory SEFF framework instruction
Applied practice without a final competency assessment
